What Suit Suits You?

She is your best friend, the love of your life, and of course, your princess. Don’t be left in the dark when it comes to suiting up for the big day.

Here are some tips on looking fit for your princess.

FORMAL BLACK TIE
A solid silver tie and black belt add a twist to the formalwear standard.

What to Wear
Jacket A fitted three-button model will do more to make the average man look taller and leaner.

Tie No matter what the season or trend, a silk tie with sheen in shades of black, silver, gray, or white is a modern, thoroughly flattering alternative to a bow tie.

Pants Flat-front, straight-legged pants, or with a small flare at the bottom if that tends to be your style. As for those traditional cummerbunds: ban them forever.

Shoes Look for sleek, modern shoes that marry perfectly with a slim-line tuxedo.

TRADITIONAL BLACK SUIT
Not the traditional tux, but plenty elegant when paired with the right accessories.

What to Wear
Jacket A two- or three-button style is often the most flattering, while silk and Viscose blended fabrics and 150-weight wool are preferred.

Shirt Go with a solid white or pale-hued shirt with a high pointed collar and no pocket. French cuffs are something to consider as well.

Tie If the shirt isn’t white, select a tie in a more intense shade of the shirt’s hue. The tie should be solid, silk, and tied with a wide knot.

Boutonniere With more formal attire, the flower generally looks best when white. Flowers that are freshly picked and matched to the bride’s bouquet is always a winner.

Pants Wear pants with a slightly leaner leg, with no more than one pleat if possible. Cuffs are optional, depending on whether your look tends to be more conservative.

LIGHT SUIT
Having a casual wedding? For summer, spring, and outdoor weddings, this suit sets the tone.

What to Wear
Suit Look for an easy fit, a natural shoulder, and a wider pants leg. Wear a complimentary color to your skin tone in crisp cotton or linen blends.

Shirt Have some fun! Try a small box check, stripes, or even a small tone-on-tone pattern as long as it falls well within your everyday style. Depending on the setting, open collars work well.

Tie A little busier tie is great with this suit since the suit will provide a neutral backdrop. But keep in mind, guys: while florals are great, cartoon characters are not.

Belt Wider than one traditionally worn with a black suit, with a little detail on the buckle. Remember, though, that this is a wedding, not a rodeo, so choose wisely.

Shoes Loafers. Plain brown or black loafers; leave the pennies at home.
